TD Garden Bag Policy

TD Garden is a multi-purpose arena that opened in 1995. It is located in Boston, Massachusetts. It was named after its sponsor, TD Bank, a Toronto-Dominion subsidiary. It is the home ground of the NHL's Boston Bruins and the NBA's Boston Celtics. It hosts over 3.5 million people a year for sports events, concerts, family shows, wrestling, and ice shows.

The TD Garden has a strict bag policy in order to ensure the safety of all guests. Guests are allowed to bring either bag no larger than 14"x14"x6" or a small bag no larger than 6” x 4” x 1.5 per person. Bags that do not meet the requirements will not be allowed into the arena.

The TD Garden bag policy is in order to ensure the safety of all. Guests are encouraged to not bring bags at all if possible. If they must bring a bag, they should only bring the essentials and keep it small.

 Only the following items will be permitted into the stadium:

  • All bags must be 14”x 14”x6” or smaller. Bags that are larger than this will not be allowed into the arena.
  • Diaper bags and medical supplies are allowed but will be subject to x-ray screening.

Backpacks, of any size, are prohibited items and are not allowed into the arena. This policy is in place to help reduce congestion and speed up security screenings.

Bags that do not meet these requirements will not be allowed into the arena. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to avoid any delays at the gates.

Types of Bags Allowed in the Stadium Along with Dimensions

There are few different types of bags that are allowed in stadiums, and each has its own specific dimensions. Here is a rundown of the types of bags allowed in stadiums:

Bags Smaller Than 14”x14”x6”

Bags that are 14”x14”x6” or smaller (Including Clear Bags) will be allowed into the stadium after going through an x-ray screening and visual inspection. This policy is for the safety of all fans attending the event. All bags will be placed under the seat or in the lap of the ticket holder.

Bag Smaller Than 6” x 4” x 1.5”

Bag that are 6” x 4” x 1.5” or smaller than 6” x 4” x 1.5” are also allowed inside the arena after visual inspection through express screening lanes. All other bags must be stored in the car or at home. 

Medical and Diaper Bags

Diaper and medical bags are allowed in the stadium as long as they pass through the x-ray screening. The bag must be able to fit under the seat in front of you.

Which Bags are not Allowed in the Stadium?

There are several types of bags that are not allowed by the TD Garden Bag Policy:

Laptop Bags

Laptop bags are not allowed in the stadium. The only bags that are allowed are clear bags or bags no larger than 14" x 14" x 6".

Backpacks

Backpacks are not allowed in the stadium. TD Garden want to ensure that everyone has an unobstructed view of the game, so they don't allow anything that could block someone's view.

Gym Bags

Gym bags are not allowed in the stadium. The reason for this is that they may contain items that are prohibited in the stadium. If you have a gym bag, you will need to either leave it at home or your vehicle.

Large purses

Large purses are not allowed in the stadium. This is because they can be used to smuggle in contraband.

Beach Bags

Beach bags are not allowed in the stadium. They are too large and can obstruct the view of other fans.

Travel bags

Travel bags are not allowed in the stadium. Travel bags take up a lot of space and can block the view of other fans.

Other Policies You Should Know Before Game Day

Before you head to the game, make sure you know the policies of the stadium. There are a few other policies that you should be aware of before game day.

Animal Policy

Service dogs (animals trained to provide services and tasks for persons with disabilities) are allowed in the stadium. Support or companion animals are not permitted. Your dog may not take up an additional seat reservation as long as you purchase an adjacent seat for the Service dog.

Smoking Policy

TD Garden is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the arena, even in areas that do not have signs. Vape pens or other tobacco substitutes are not allowed inside the arena and may be confiscated.

Alcohol Policy

All guests must show ID when purchasing alcohol. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of all fans.

The forms of identification that are accepted:

  • Massachusetts driver’s license
  • Massachusetts liquor ID
  • Massachusetts ID Card
  • Passport Booklet
  • Accepted forms of military ID include:
    • A valid active military identification card with a picture that proves you are of legal drinking age
    • A valid retired military ID card that states military service is indefinitely expired, with a birth date and expiration date printed on the back of the card.

Camera Policy

Cameras without a detachable lens are allowed in the TD Garden. Professional photography equipment and tripods are permitted into TD Garden without special media credentials.

Banners, Signs, and Flags Policy

  • Banner and Signs no larger than 8 ½ x 11” inches in size.
  • Banners and Signs may not block or obstruct the view of any other guests.
  • Banners, Signs, and Flags must be related to the show and not contain obscene or offensive language or pictures
  • No signs or banners with poles or sticks are permitted.
  • Banners, Signs, and Flags may not be hung, displayed, or affixed to any part of the Garden.
