NRG Stadium Bag Policy 2022

NRG Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Houston, Texas. It seats 72,220 and costs $352 million to make.  The stadium is the home of the National Football League's Houston Texas, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Texas Bowl, and many matches for the United States men's national soccer teams. The stadium has hosted a number of big events like Super Bowls XXXVIII (2004), LI (2017), and WrestleMania 25 (2009).

NRG Stadium has a clear bag policy. This policy is in place to help expedite security screenings and keep everyone safe. However, NGR stadium has set a guideline limiting the number and size of clear bags you can carry inside the stadium.

NRG Stadium Bag Policy

In an effort to provide a safer environment for our fans and guests, NRG Stadium has implemented a clear bag policy. 

Only the following items will be permitted into the stadium:

  • Bags that are made of clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6" x 12.”
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small bags, which are a maximum of the size of a hand, and have somewhere to attach a strap or handle or not, can be taken into the stadium with one of our clear plastic bags.
  • There will be an exception for any medically necessary items after inspection at a gate designated to that purpose.

The NRG clear bag policy states that all bags, including briefcases and laptop bags, are prohibited inside the stadium with the exception of clear bags.

NRG Stadium also reminds guests that they are subject to search upon entry and that any prohibited items must be returned to their vehicles or discarded before entering the Stadium.

Are Clear Bags Allowed in NRG Stadium?

Yes, clear bags are allowed in NRG Stadium. The audience can bring clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC no larger than 12” by x 6” x 12” and the clutch purse should not be larger than 4.5" x 6.5"

Types of Clear bags allowed in the stadium along with dimensions

The NRG Stadium bag policy is in place to ensure the safety of all guests. Only certain types and sizes of clear bags are allowed into the stadium. The approved types of bags are:

Clear Bag Smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12”

A small clear bag no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12” is perfect for carrying around your smaller items such as your phone, wallet, and keys. This size bag will fit comfortably under your seat or on your lap.

Clutch Purse Smaller than 4.5" x 6.5"

A clutch purse is a small purse that is typically used as an evening bag. It is usually large enough to fit your driver's license, some cash, and a few credit cards.

You can carry your normal evening clutch bag, as long as it's the right size. You don't need to have a transparent bag, but security will check it.

One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag

    One-gallon clear bags are perfect for storing and organizing small items. They are also great for taking with you on the go, as they don't take up much space and can easily be carried in a purse or backpack. Plus, they're clear so you can see what's inside without having to open them up.

    Things You Can Carry In NRG Stadium

    Diapers and wipes

    If you're a parent, you know that sometimes it's impossible to leave the house without diapers and wipes. And if you're headed to NRG Stadium, you'll be happy to know that you can bring them in with you. Just be sure to pack them in a clear bag so that security can see what's inside.

    Small cameras and cell phones

    Small cameras and cell phones are allowed, so long as they don't interfere with other guests' enjoyment of the game. Cameras with non-removable lenses can be taken inside the stadium as long as they are less than three inches in length. However, professional cameras and video cameras are not allowed.

    Seat cushions Smaller than 18”

    If you're looking to add a little extra comfort to your game-day experience, consider bringing a seat cushion with you to NRG Stadium. Seat cushions must be smaller than 18" in any dimension, so be sure to measure yours before heading to the stadium.

    Non-approved seat cushions include large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments, or covers.

    Which bags are not allowed in the stadium?

    There are several types of bags that are not allowed in the stadium.

    Laptop Bags

      Laptop bags are not allowed in the stadium. This is because they can be used to smuggle in laptops, which can be used to record the game or take pictures and videos.

      Gym Bags

        Gym bags are not allowed in the stadium. This is for security reasons, as they can be used to hide other prohibited items.

        Backpacks

          Backpacks are not allowed in the stadium. This is for the safety of all fans, as backpacks can often contain large and heavy items that could pose a danger to other fans if they were to fall or be thrown.

          Beach Bags

            Beach bags are not allowed in the stadium. This is because they are typically made of mesh or other light material that can easily be blown around by the wind. 

            Additionally, beach bags often have a lot of straps and pockets that can get caught on objects or people.

            Large purses

              Large purses are not allowed in the stadium. This is for the safety of all fans, as large purses can be used to smuggle in other contraband.

              Ladies’ purses 

                Ladies’ purses are not allowed in the stadium. They must be either left at home or carried in a clear plastic bag. Ladies’ purses can be a security risk because they can be used to hide contraband.

                Travel bags

                  Travel bags are not allowed in the stadium. These include any type of bag that is larger than a standard purse or backpack. This rule is in place to help keep the stadium safe and secure. Anyone who brings a travel bag into the stadium will be asked to leave it at the gate.

                  Other Policies You Should Know Before Game Day

                  Before you head to the game, make sure you know the policies of the stadium. There are a few other policies that you should be aware of before game day.

                  Alcohol Policy

                    NRG Stadium has a clear alcohol policy that guests must follow in order to enter the stadium. No outside alcohol is allowed into the stadium. If guests are found to have outside alcohol, they will be ejected from the premises. 

                    Guests are only allowed to purchase two alcoholic beverages per transaction. All guests must show ID when purchasing alcohol and there is a limit of two drinks per ID. There are also no alcohol sales after the third quarter. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of all fans.

                    Camera Policy

                      NRG Stadium has a strict camera policy. Only small, handheld cameras are allowed inside the stadium. No tripods or monopods are allowed. Professional cameras are not allowed inside the stadium unless you have a media pass. 

                      • Banners, Signs, and Flags Policy

                        If you're heading to NRG, there are a few things you should know about the stadium's policies. 

                        1. Only banners, signs, and flags(Not Include National Flags) that are related to the team or event are allowed in the stadium. 
                        2. They must be small enough to be held by one person and cannot obstruct the view of other guests. 
                        3. Any banners, signs, or flags that are deemed to be offensive will not be allowed in the stadium.
                        4. Any Banners, signs, and flags may not be attached to poles or sticks.
                        5. They should be constructed of either vinyl, cloth, or other lightweight materials.
                        6. Guests will not be permitted to display more than one banner, sign, or flag.
