Arrowhead Stadium Bag Policy

Arrowhead Stadium is an American football stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. It’s home to the Chiefs of the National Football League and opened for games on August 12, 1972. The stadium has been renamed GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium (G-E-H-A) since March 2021, after the naming rights deal between GEHA and the Chiefs. Arrowhead Stadium seats 76,416 people and is the 27th largest stadium in the U.S. and also the 6th largest NFL stadium.

Arrowhead Stadium has a clear bag policy for all events. Guests are encouraged to not bring any type of bag with them. While there are exceptions, guests are only permitted to bring clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC no larger than 12” by x 6” x 12” and clutch purses should not be larger than 4.5" x 6.5".

In order to provide a safer environment for the fans and stadium staff, Arrowhead Stadium has adopted a clear bag policy for all events. This policy limits the size and type of bags that are allowed into the stadium.

Only the following items will be permitted into the stadium:

  • Bags that are made of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6" x 12.”
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags that are 4.5" x 6.5" or smaller.
  • There will be an exception for any medically necessary items after Proper inspection at the gate.

At some point, you'll need to get your bag checked before entering the stadium. Therefore, we suggest you show up at least an hour before kickoff. A limited number of lanes will be offered for guests with bags, so we recommend arriving early so as not to have to wait longer to enter. Signs will indicate which entrances accept bags.

The Arrowhead clear bag policy states that all bags, including briefcases and laptop bags, are prohibited inside the stadium with the exception of clear bags.

Types of Clear bags allowed in the stadium along with dimensions

The Arrowhead Stadium bag policy is in place to ensure the safety of all guests. Only certain types and sizes of clear bags are allowed into the stadium. The approved types of bags are:

Clear Bag Smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12”

The clear bag smaller than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ is allowed in the stadium as long as it meets the Arrowhead Stadium bag policy size specifications. This size clear bag is perfect for those who want to bring in a small purse or other small items into the stadium.

Clutch Purse Smaller than 4.5" x 6.5"

A small clutch purse no bigger than 4.5” x 6.5” is allowed in the stadium. This site is about the size of your hand, making it perfect for carrying the bare essentials like your ID, credit card, and some cash. If you’re looking for a clear stadium-approved bag that’s small and chic, a clutch purse is a way to go.

One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag

One-gallon clear bags are perfect for storing and organizing small items. They are also great for taking with you on the go, as they don't take up much space and can easily be carried in a purse or bag. Plus, they're clear so you can see what's inside without having to open them up.

Medical Bag

An exception to the Arrowhead clear bag policy will be made for medically necessary items after inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

Which bags are not allowed in the stadium?

There are several types of bags that are not allowed in the stadium.

Laptop Bags

Bringing a laptop or any kind of large bag into the stadium are not allowed in the stadium. The only bags that are allowed are small purses, clutches, or clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that are no larger than 12" x 6" x 12".

Gym Bags

Gym bags are not allowed in the stadium. This is for security reasons, as they can be used to hide other prohibited items.

Backpacks

Backpacks are not allowed in the stadium. This is for security reasons and to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience. please refrain from bringing large bags or backpacks into the stadium.

Beach Bags

Beach bags are not allowed in the stadium. This is because they are typically made of mesh or other light material that can easily be blown around by the wind. 

Additionally, beach bags often have a lot of straps and pockets that can get caught on objects or people.

Large purses

Large purses are not allowed in the stadium. All bags must be clear and no larger than 12" x 6" x 12". Purses may be carried into the stadium, but they must be clear and no larger than 4.5" x 6.5".

Travel bags

Any type of travel bag is not allowed in the stadium. This includes luggage, duffel, backpacks, and briefcases, or any other travel bags.

Other Policies You Should Know Before Game Day

Before you head to the game, make sure you know the policies of the stadium. There are a few other policies that you should be aware of before game day.

Alcohol Policy

Outside alcohol and inappropriate containers including are prohibited from entry into GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Guests under 35 years of age, need to present a valid form of identification to purchase any alcoholic beverages. Only two alcoholic beverages per ID are allowed at a time.

Alcohol will not be sold to any individuals believed to be showing signs of inebriation. No alcohol will be served after the third quarter. At the discretion of management, alcohol may be cut off earlier if deemed necessary. For events other than football, alcohol cutoff times will be determined by GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium management.

Camera Policy

GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium prohibits any video cameras in the stadium. Small still cameras are permitted in GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, as long as they're not contained within a bag or case of any kind before entering the stadium. Tripods, monopods, and camera lenses longer than 6" (detachable or non-detachable) are not permitted.

Banners, Signs, and Flags Policy

If you're heading to Arrowhead Stadium, there are a few things you should know about the stadium's policies. 

  1. Inside GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, banners are only permitted so long as they don't cause any disruptions and are no bigger than 3 feet by 5 feet.
  2. All Sings will be subject to security screening. Anything deemed inappropriate by the security will not be allowed inside of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, including the Confederate Flag.
  3. Cannot be commercial, offensive, or in poor taste.
  4. Banners and signs are not to be hung on any structures at GEHA Field at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
  5. They can't interfere with stadium signage or present any safety hazards.
  6. No poles will be allowed due to safety concerns.
